Workshops are short term classes that meet for a limited time. We require that at least 5 participants have signed up a week prior the start date for the class to run.

February / March 2020:
PAINTING WORKSHOP for YOUNG CHILDREN AND THEIR CAREGIVERS

Teacher: Lauren Louwagie
Cost per child/parent pair: $130 (add an additional child for $60)
Intended age range of children: Preschool (3+) – Kindergarten
Time: Four consecutive Saturdays in February and in March (2/15, 2/22, 2/ 29, and 3/7) at 10:00-11:00am
Cancellation date: 2/8

In this month long workshop, preschool age children and their guardians will discover inventive and traditional ways to paint. Using a variety of engaging materials, we will explore both basic and beyond-the-brush techniques to paint on a wide variety of surfaces. The class will offer tricks how to incorporate art making to everyday life with a young child and continue creative activities at home.

Adult and preschooler must enroll together. Adults must be present at the class and they are expected to engage and participate. Siblings are welcome to enroll together, but one adult cannot enroll with more than two children.

March / April 2020:
INTRODUCTION to PAINTING

Instructor: Inari Kylänen
Cost: $170
Time: Four consecutive Saturdays in March and April 3/28, 4/4, 4/11, and 4/18 at 11:00-2:00
Cancellation date: 3/21

This class will concentrate on basic painting techniques. We will explore paint handling, color mixing, and preparing different surface materials for painting. All paintings will be done from direct observation with acrylic paints. Students should be at least 14 years old.

November 2019:
BLOCK PRINTING

Instructor: Jim Heumann
Cost: $170
Time: November 2nd, 9th, 16th and 23rd at 9:00am – 12:00pm

This workshop will focus on all phases of block printing including image development and transfer, carving techniques, print registration, safe printing/cleanup practices to produce single, multi-color, and reduction block prints. The workshop will focus on the needs of beginner and experienced printmakers and registration is open to adults and students under age fifteen if accompanied by a parent or guardian. 

Mr. Heumann is an active Juneau print maker who has previously conducted 10 previous print workshops in Juneau. The workshop size will be capped at 12 students and will require a minimum of 5 enrolled participants to run.
